Rikki is a miracle! Kate met him in a crowded market, stumbling, falling, hairless, legs bowed from severe malnutrition: aimless and pathetic. Found to have tetanus as well, Dr Ghimire started intensive daily treatment. As Rikki progressed through the disease, his whole body became rigid, he was unable to move, dependent on syringe feeding. He learned to walk again with splints on his legs and made a full recovery. Later Rikki was adopted by the next door neighbour – that lasted about 2 years until a posh breed dog was acquired. Rikki is loved and admired for his gentle spirit, courage and will to survive. He was being sponsored by Karma and Dawa in Kathmandu. He died on 9 March 2023.
