Chune

Chune was picked up in Chunnikhel on 13 June 2021. An old dog, he had turned up near Manu Tamang’s home.  He was not known in the community so was probably an abandoned dog who just kept moving until he collapsed.  An x-ray showed spinal deterioration, and his blood test showed low platelets and low PCV.  He has been put …

Stormy

Stormy was rescued by Ania, taken to a vet for diagnosis – distemper positive! So another challenge for us! Uma Kale

Saturday afternoon Saturday 15 May 2021. Most of the shelters in Kathmandu close on Saturdays and don’t answer the phone (sometimes they don’t answer on weekdays either!) 5 pm and we get a call – our centre has closed down for the night. Shyam

Shyam was picked up from Krishna Mandir on 13 May 2021 with a damaged leg. After checking with Dr Sushil, he was put on amoxyclav for a week. Hopefully he will be returned home when he recovers. Ajay, the young lad that called for help, will take care of him.

Khaire Jyoti

Khaire arrived in the centre on 14 April 2021 suffering from a severe leg break. Dr Sushil at AMC carried out the surgery and inserted a metal plate to hold the leg together. A strong dog, he did not like being in an enclosure for a week! He recovered quickly but with a limp, and returned to his location on …

Kale Krishna was picked up at Krishna Mandir in Paika on 12 April 2021 suffering from a broken leg. The wound was also infected, so he had an x-ray and blood test and has been treated with amoxyclav. He may have to have the leg removed. He will eventually return to his place on the street.

Bhangal

February 2025

Bhangal was rescued on 8 April 2021 with difficulty standing and walking. No apparent injuries and a blood test showed no problems. So he was kept in the centre under observation and gradually improved and is now moving about easily.

Gordy

Gordy was picked up near our centre on 21 March 2021 with a shoulder infection. Blood tests and x-ray showed a joint infection, which was treated with amoxyclav. Although recovered, he still has a bit of a limp so he will be returned home shortly.

Kanchi

Kanchi was found in Alashi Dara acting strangely on 7 May 2021 and taken straight to Animal Medical Centre, where a diagnoses of possibly rabies was determined. So she was taken back to our centre for observation – if it was rabies, she would probably die within 2 or 3 days. Kanchi was in poor shape and having fits at …
