About Us

Community Dog Welfare Centre is committed to developing community awareness and responsibility for dog welfare in Gokarneshwor, Kathmandu.  We are a nonprofit, family run organization and rely on charity for continuity of our work.  We are also affiliated with a volunteer programme that offers an opportunity to experience or even assist CDW in our daily efforts.

We currently have five staff helping us with the dogs. Ramesh, Phurbu, Nyoman, Saroj and Arjun work from 6.30am to 5pm with a 2 hour break.  The daily routine includes cleaning out the kennels, walking the dogs in groups, cooking food morning and evening and feeding the dogs.  Other tasks fit into this daily routine – medical treatment, trips to the clinic, emergency rescues, facility maintenance.

CDW is managed and run by Kate and Doug Clendon, a New Zealand couple who have been living in Nepal for over 35 years.
